Most will take your blog more seriously if you have a domain of your own, and its difficult to change later. Getting your readers to move from your blogger hosted blog, to a new domain can be difficult. Overall it's not too expensive to get your own domain and blog. $9.99 a year for the domain, and about $7 a month for the host, is not a big investment.
