A lot of people see the potential to make money online, but few take the jump into full time affiliate and internet marketing. The possibilities for income are as endless as your creativity allows it to be. Yet still many are wary of becoming internet marketers, unsure of the true profitability of affiliate marketing. My reasons for starting this blog, and devoting my time to affiliate marketing may help push a few over the edge and cement the decision to join the industry.
Passive Income
The number one reason why I love what I do, is the ability to make a passive income. When I was in the Dominican Republic with my girlfriend, my articles were still generating traffic and I was still making money. I know that I can take a week off and make enough to pay for my vacation, while I’m vacationing.

Most people won’t start with the sudden ability to take off when they wish. Don’t despair though, there is a tipping point, when your sites begin converting well enough to afford you more freedom.
In the beginning it’s hard work, writing daily and testing new sites, squeeze pages, and niches, but as you start to build your online presence your articles and sites will begin to work on their own.
Flexible Work Hours
If I can take off when I want, can you imagine what my work hours are like? Working at home can be great. I wake up when I want and work when I’m inspired. I set a goal each day and stick to that. But whether I work from 9am to 4pm or 1pm to 8pm, it doesn’t matter as long as my goal is reached.
Many people say that they love affiliate marketing because they get to spend time with their kids when they want, based on their children’s schedule instead of work’s. To many, this reason alone, is why they started making money online.
Age
As long as you can write, and use the Internet, you can make money online. It doesn’t matter if you’re 50, or 13. A 14 year old by Carl Ocab began his venture into affiliate marketing and now teaches others how to make money online.
Education
You don’t need to be a high school graduate and you definitely don’t need a college degree to do well in this Industry. Sure it helps, only because you learn social skills and writing techniques that you would otherwise have to learn while working. But even those with advanced degrees in journalism, english, and political science, have had to learn how to write for the Internet, and adapt to the special conversational style prevalent. If you can write, have a basic understanding of mathematics, and an ever-flowing spout of creativity, you have all the education you need to be successful.
Industry Culture

Every time you apply for a new job you have to consider the culture that company cultivates. If you’re working at Pepsi, you know that the company pushes for a youthful, highly competitive, and innovative atmosphere. Working in the Internet industry is no different, we share a culture among peers instead of in our businesses.
The Internet industry works hard to cultivate a culture of fun, innovation, and friendliness. We refuse to hoard our knowledge and instead happily share it in our blog posts, pushing for freedom in knowledge. We maintain a relaxed, innovative, humorous atmosphere where we’ve thrown out
our suits so we can video blog in jeans and a T-shirt.
You’re Never an Outsider
Another part of our culture is that we’re inclusive. Internet Marketing gives power to those that have more friends, so everyone is looking to network; happily introducing new people to new technologies, new blogs, and new posts. An outsider has access to everyone through sites like Twitter and FriendFeed, letting you converse with the people behind the blogs, and the leaders in the industry.
Easy to Start
As long as you have a computer, a few dollars a year to get hosting and buy your own domain, and the will to succeed, you can be successful online. It’s easy to learn, open to everyone, and cheap to start.
If you haven’t decided to dedicate your time to Internet Marketing, you’re missing out on a growing industry that offers great benefits and large profits. If you’re still unsure, leave a comment why you haven’t. I invite all of you to write, telling me why you love what you do.
