The $30,000 Blog

John Chow just put up his income report for the Month of April, and I can’t help but say that even on a low month I’m impressed.

So how do you make that kind of money on your blog?

Direct traffic from good content. You need to write for your users and not for search engines. As much as SEO’s hate Jason Calacanis he had a good point, it is immensely important to write good content, and not only try to rank highest for a keyword in Google (although until Google is perfect, keyword targeting will still be important).

As traffic begins to flow, understand that all advertising is not equal. Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money, and CPA is extremely profitable. It’s not easy to get people to use your affiliate links. CPC and CPM are great advertising methods but are not as profitable, yet they’re more stable.

Don’t forget it takes only a few things to have a profitable blog -
Good Content
Traffic
Advertising
Patience
