There are two new social sites on the block, SocialBrowse and Social Median. Both have gotten a lot of press lately, and both are sincerely a lot of fun.
I’ve already written about SocialBrowse, in the past, but I think it warrants a second look. A lot has changed, although the basics are the same, the toolbar has gained additions. The actual FireFox addon has become more stable, and is easier to use.

Recently, I’ve been writing a lot about sites like digg and plurk. They’ve been titled Social Media, except that’s a little misleading.
Truth is that Plurk and Twitter’s main purpose isn’t sharing media, but more building connections and sharing ideas, along with media. To be more true to what they’re meant to do, I consider them Social Sharing sites.
To clear up all the confusion, I’ll outline, define, and give examples of the three Social site type.

By the time Social Media was recognized to be a viable marketing technique, digg was already king of the hill. But as Social Media grows, so does the time required to be effective. Is it worth it? Or can your time be better spent elsewhere?
Social Media
The general technique with digg is to submit stories that will reach the front page, over time your user name and profile image become a “recognizable brand”.
Those who’s ultimate goal is becoming a Social Media Consultant, might revel in this advantage. For the rest of us, being considered a top digg user, is just another title to add to our ego.

I’ve already written multiple times on the branding benefits of social media, and social networking. But what about Internet Marketers looking for a bump in Search Engine Results. I’ve put together a guide explaining how each Social Media site can be used for Search Engine Optimization.
Disclaimer:
Mixing Search Engine Optimization and Social Media is a very dangerous technique. Your outcome is based on the emphasis you place on either branding or SEO.
Marketer’s that recognize Social Media’s main function is branding, leaving SEO to be a secondary effect, will find success in their campaigns. However, marketer’s, or better yet spammers, that use Social Media as a link building resource, can expect their brand to be muddied to a point of disrepair.
For those that understand Social Media but do not know what secondary effects are possible, I’ve outlined what each network offers.

It’s sad that the news tends to give the Internet a bum rap. Just look at how many shows are dedicated to how shitty things are, and how dangerous the Internet is.
Want an example? Check out “To Catch a Predator“. The show is dedicated to finding online predators. They do this by getting a girl to pretend she’s a 14 year old girl in a chat room, and then inviting the guy over to have sex.
First of all, I want to know how the producer’s know which chat rooms to go to, but more importantly it seems that the girls are really the ones leading the men to the idea of sex. In fact a number of cases had to be dropped since the men had been illegally arrested.
All is not lost though, because I know truthfully, that a majority of Internet users are good people. The media works hard to fear monger, while bloggers continually fight to show truth.

To the novice Internet surfer, RSS Feeds are often misunderstood and rarely used. Most bloggers don’t see the advantage of subscribing to potentially hundreds of site, but instead see just a waste of time. The truth is, if you use it right, RSS Feeds can save you time, keep you informed, and help you on your quest to becoming a Social Media Maven.

While searching about today, I realized that Plurk’s site links included Plurk User Pages.

One of my favorite things about Internet Marketing is that I get invited to a lot of really cool new sites to try out and test. The latest in my adventures is Social Browse. It’s a kind of a mashup of stumbleupon and digg.
When you sign up you’re prompted to install a firefox addon, which is actually very lite and not intrusive. The program adds…
